Keonepoko Elementary School is located in the town of Pahoa on the eastern side of Hawaii Island in the Kau-Kea'au-Pahoa Complex Area. The school serves a Preschool-Grade 6 student population. In the last several years the Keonepoko community has been significantly impacted by multiple hurricanes and lava flows. These natural disasters have disrupted the entire Pahoa community and the effects have been profound on the families and students who live here. Although these events have been challenging, the community has remained steadfast and resilient, while displaying compassion, kindness, and aloha to those who may have been impacted.
We believe that this aloha spirit, along with relationships are at the heart of learning.
We are responsible for making Keonepoko a safe, respectful, positive place where we think critically and continuously learn in order to be valued contributors in any community with aloha and integrity.
Each child will achieve high academic and personal standards in a nurturing learning environment to become college, career, and citizenship ready.
